“Understanding Islam : The Series”
Understanding Islam
was envisioned as a peace-building tool to interpret Islam from a feminist lens, in times when Islamic identities are the subject of targeted discrimination at multiple levels.
The essence of this video series is to impart accurate information regarding the theology, sociology and legality of Islam, particularly in the South Asian context and to build alliances with peace-loving, secular, anti-racist, anti-casteist individuals and communities as a means to end Islamophobia on a global scale.
As the world came to a standstill during the Covid lockdown, the course pedagogy by the Muslim Women’s Forum (MWF) led by Dr. Syeda Hameed was produced as a 14 part video series, which were/are being released and screened at leadership building workshops across India.
Theater Actor Naseerudin Shah later joined us in support for the second half of the production after he saw the first 4 episodes and the impact which this series potentially has.
